He is our Provider (Genesis 22:1-14)

Today I am going to share about the life of Abraham. In Genesis chapter 12, God called him, Abraham leave your country, your people and your relatives and go the land I will show you. Abraham obeyed the Word of God and set out from Haran. Abraham was nearly at the age of 75 years and he was childless. He did not have any son. God promised him that I will bless you and I will make you a great nation. And when Abraham was at the age of hundred, God gave him a promised son and he named him Isaac.

And this chapter 22 is the continuing story of Abraham. Here God is going to test Abraham.

God said to Abraham, take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love and go to the region of Moriah and sacrifice him there.

Think how difficult it was for Abraham. Abraham didn’t have any child, later God gave him a son and now God called him to sacrifice his son. But here in chapter 22 we see the obedience of Abraham, how faithful he was. He did not say anything, just obeyed the word of Godand took his son and went to the place which God told him.

He knew God can do anything. He believed that God can give life to the dead. His faith was strong. He believed in resurrection. See, what he said to his servants, "stay here with the donkey whileI and the boy go over there, we will worship and then we will come back to you" (v.5)

He did not say "I" but he said, "We will come back to you". See how strong faith he had. That’s why he is called the "Father of Faith".

Abraham believed in God’s word. He knew, God who told me to sacrifice his Son he will do everything for me. Abraham knew that he received the promise from God and he believed that the God’s word could not fail. Abraham had clung himself uponthe faithfulness of God. He had strong faith.

The author of Hebrew also calls our attention to this side of Abraham’s faith. "By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offeredIsaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promise was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned. Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead. (Heb.11:17-19).

Abraham believed in God. So he went and built an altar and bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar and reached out his hand to slay him. The angel of the Lord called out to him, Abraham, Abraham, don't lay a hand on the boy. Don't do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son. Then Abraham looked up and saw a ram. He took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son and Abraham called thatplace, "The Lord will provide", because Lord provided him a ram for the sacrifice.

God is the provider. He provides everything to his people, what they need. He provided Abraham a son and then a ram for sacrifice. He also provides everything to his people when they ask him.

Brothers and sisters, a wonderful message of Gospel is shown in this chapter. God said to Abraham, go to the region of Moriah and sacrifice your son as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I will tell you about.

First of all where is the Moriah? Moriah is mountain area and the hills of Jerusalem were part of the land of Moriah. Golgotha "the place of skull" where our Lord Jesus was crucified is in the region Moriah. So it means that Abraham was going to sacrifice his son on the same place, where later Jesus was crucified.

Abraham obeyed the word of God and took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac (verse 3). And when he reached in the region Moriah, verse 6 says,

"He took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac and going to Moriah. (Gen.22:6).

On the way Isaac asked his Father, Where is the lamb for burnt offering. Abraham answered God himself will provide the lamb for burnt offering. Abraham believed in God. God provided him ram for burnt offering but by faith he was predicting about Jesus, Who became lamb for you. And when John saw him, he said, look the Lamb of God, who took away the sins of the world. Jesus became a lamb for you and took your sins and nailed them on the cross.

Think about Abraham, how he was feeling, when his beloved son Isaac was carrying the wood and moving to the mountain. But he believed in God. He knew that God will provide me everything. But think about that how much God loves you that he sent his Son Jesus for you and me, who became lamb for you and who was carrying the sins of world and going to the Calvary.

Abraham did not sacrifice his son, God provided him the ram. But God by faith showed Abraham the days of Christ. God showed him how Jesus will be crucified for his people. When Isaac was carrying the wood, Abraham saw the image of Christ in Isaac. In Isaac, Abraham saw the Lamb of God who was carrying the sins of theworld. In Isaac, Abraham was seeing the redeemer of the world. In Isaac Abraham was seeing the beloved son of God, Who was carrying the Cross. By faith God showed to him the days of Christ. By faith God showed him the Calvary scene. God showed to Abraham what he will do with his beloved son after 2000 years. And how was Abraham feeling when he saw that scene. He was happy to see the Calvaryscene because God revealed to him his amazing plan of salvation. God showed him, how he will redeem his people. That's why Jesus said in John, 8:56, "Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my days, he saw it and was glad."

Abraham was happy to see those days. Isaac took the wood and going to Moriah. But Jesus took the sins of the world and going to the Golgotha to nail them on the cross. The same place and the same scene, and Abraham was happy to see the day of Christ.

God did what Abraham did not have to do; God showed his love and made his Son an offering for sin. That’s why John says in 1 John 4:9-10, "This is how God showed his love among us; He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifices for our sins"(1Jh. 4:9-10).

In Genesis 22, we see Abraham's love for God, we see Abraham's devotion for God, we see his obedience and above all we see Abraham's faith. But here we also see God's faithfulness that God showed his faithfulness and blessed Abraham and made him a great nation. But in Jesus we see God's love, that how much God loves you that he sent his Son Jesus, who was crucified for you.

Brothers and Sisters, in the coming weeks, we are having Good Friday and Easter, but today I need your attention towards Calvary. Think about God the Father, how he was feeling when Jesus was carrying the sins of the world and going to Golgotha. Think about that when his beloved Son, Jesus was struck with fists and others slapped him and some stripped him. They spit on him and with a staff they struck him on the head. Think about that when Jesus was carrying the Cross. Think about that when Jesus was nailing your sins on the Cross how God, the Father was feelingat that time. But why God did this all. God did this all because God loves you. He cares for you that’s why He sent his Son Jesus for you, Who shed his blood for you on the cross to set you free from the slavery of sin.

Brothers and sisters, what you have to do now. You have to put your faith in Jesus. You have to show your love to God because God already showed his love for you on the Cross. Now you have to show your love and obedience to God. Abraham loved God and showed his obedience to God then God bless him abundantly. If you love Jesus and show your obedience to Him, then God the Father of our Lord Jesus will bless you and will provide you everything what you need. He will lead you and help you in every field of your life and bless you abundantly because He loves you.

하나님은 우리의 준비자이십니다.(창22:1-14)  

오늘 저는 여러분과 아브라함의 삶에 대하여 함께 나누고자 합니다. 창세가 12장에서 하나님은 아브라함을 부르시고 너의 고향과 친척과 아버지 집을 떠나 내가 네게 보여 줄 땅으로 가라고 하십니다. 아브라함은 하나님의 말씀에 순종하여 하란에서 나왔습니다. 아브라함의 나이는 75세에 이르렀고 그는 자녀가 없었습니다. 그는 아들이 없었습니다. 그런데 하나님은 내가 너를 축복하겠고 너로 큰 민족을 이루게 하겠다고 약속하셨습니다. 그리고 아브라함이 백세 되던 때에 하나님께서는 약속의 아들을 주시고 그의 이름을 이삭이라고 하였습니다.

본문의 22장에서는 아브라함의 이야기가 계속 이어지고 있습니다. 여기서 하나님은 아브라함을 시험하려고 합니다.

하나님은 아브라함에게 이르기를 너의 아들 즉 너의 독자 이삭, 너의 사랑하는 아들을 데리고 모리아땅으로 가서 거기서 그를 번제로 드리라고 말씀하셨습니다.

아브라함에게 있어서 이는 얼마나 어려운 일인지 생각하십시오. 아브라함은 다른 아이가 없었습니다. 하나님께서 늦게 그에게 준 아들인데 지금 그를 부르셔서 그의 아들을 번제로 드리라고 합니다. 그런데 본문 22장에서 우리는 아브라함의 순종을 봅니다. 얼마나 놀라운 믿음을 가졌는지 보게 됩니다. 그는 아무 말도 하지 않고 단지 하나님의 말씀에 순종하여 그의 아들을 데리고 하나님께서 그에게 말씀하신 그 곳으로 갔습니다.

그는 하나님이 모든 것을 할수 있다는 것을 알았습니다. 그는 하나님은 죽은자에게 생명을 주실 수 있음을 믿었습니다. 그의 믿음을 강했습니다. 그는 부활을 믿었습니다. 그가 종에게 어떻게 말했는지 보십시오. 그는 "여기에서 나귀와 함께 나와 아이가 저쪽에 가서 예배드리고 돌아올 때까지 기다리라"(5절)라고 말했습니다.

그는 "나"라고 말하지 않고 "우리가 너에게 돌아올것이다"라고 말했습니다. 그가 얼마나 큰 믿음을 소유하였는지 보십시오. 그래서 그를 "믿음의 조상"이라고 불렀습니다.

아브라함은 하나님의 말씀을 믿었습니다. 그는 하나님께서 그의 아들도 번제로 드리는데 그가 나를 위해 모든 것을 할 것임을 알았습니다. 아브라함은 하나님의 약속을 받은 것을 알았고 또한 하나님의 말씀은 실패하지 않는다는 것을 알았습니다. 아브라함은 하나님을 신뢰함에 자신을 의지하였다. 그는 강한 믿음을 소유하였다.

히브리서 기자도 역시 아브라함의 이 믿음을 강조하였습니다. "믿음으로 아브라함은 하나님께서 그를 시험받을 때 믿음으로 이삭을 드렸으니 그는 약속들을 받은 자로되 외아들을 드렸느니라 그에게 이미 말씀하시기를 네 자손이라 칭할 자는 이삭으로 말미암으리라 하셨으니 그가 하나님이 능히 이삭을 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 살리실 줄로 생각한지라 비유컨대 그를 죽은자 가운데서 도로 받은 것이니라.(히11:17-19)

아브라함이 하나님을 믿었으므로 그는 제단을 쌓고 그 위에 그의 아들 이삭을 결박하여 눕히고 그의 손을 들어 그를 죽이려고 하였다. 주의 천사가 그를 불러 아브라함아, 아브라함아 아이를 치지 말라. 그에게 아무것도하지 말아라. 지금 내가 네가 하나님을 경외하는 것을 알았다. 네가 너의 외아들도 아끼지 않았기 때문이다. 그리하여 아브라함이 바라보았더니 숫양이 보였다. 그는 숫양을 잡아다 그 아들을 대신하여 번제로 드렸다. 그리하여 아브라함은 그곳을 "주께서 준비하리라"고 하였다. 그것은 주께서 그에게 번제를 위하여 숫양을 준비하셨기 때문이였다.

하나님은 준비하시는 분입니다. 그는 그의 백성을 위하여 그들이 필요한 모든 것을 준비하십니다. 그는 아브라함에게 아들을 준비해 주시고 그 다음 번제를 위하여 숫양을 준비하셨습니다. 그는 또한 그의 백성이 그에게 구할 때 모든 것을 준비하십니다.

형제자매여러분,복음의 놀라운 메시지는 오늘 본문에서 보여줍니다. 하나님은 아브라함에게 이르기를 모리아지역으로 가서 너의 아들을 번제로 드리되내가 너에게 말한 산에서 번제로 드리라고 하였습니다..

먼저 모리아가 어딥니까? 모리아는 산이고 예루살레의 언덕이며 모리아 땅에 있습니다. 골고다 즉 '해골의 딸"이라는 곳은 우리 주 예수님이 십자가에 못박힌 곳이며 바로 모리아 땅입니다. 그 곳은 아브라함이 자기의 아들을 번제로 드리려던 장소이며 그 후에 예수님이 십자가에 못박힌 곳입니다.

아브라함이 하나님의 말씀에 순종하여 두 종과 아들 이삭을 데리고 (3절)

모리아땅에 이르렀을 때 6절에 말하기를 "그는 번제를 드리기 위한 나무와 그의 아들 이삭을 데리고 모리아로 갔다(창226)"고 기록합니다.

길에서 이삭이 아버지에게 번제로 드릴 어린 양은 어디에 있느냐고 물었습니다. 아브라함은 하나님 자신이번제를 위하여 준비하실것이라고 대답하였습니다. 아브라함은 하나님을 믿었습니다. 하나님은 번제를 위하여 숫양을 준비하였다. 그는 믿음으로 예수님을 예시하였고 그 분이 당신을 위하여 어린양이 되었습니다. 그리고 요한이 그분을 보고 이르기를 보라 하나님의 어린양이로다 그가 세상의 죄를 지고 가셨다고 하였다. 예수님은 당신을 위하여 어린양이 되시고 당신의 죄를 가지고 그 죄들을 십자가에 못박았습니다.

아브라함에 대해 생각해보십시오. 사랑스러운 아들 이삭에게 나무를 지우고 산으로 갈 때 그가 어떤 기분이었을까요. 그러나 그는 하나님을 믿었습니다. 그는 하나님께서 모든것을 준비하실것을 알았습니다. 그러나 하나님께서 당신을 얼마나 사랑하시는지 생각해보십시오. 그는 자신의 아들 예수님을 나와 당신을 위하여 보내셨습니다. 그리고 예수님은 당신을 위하여 어린양이 되어 이 세상의 죄를 지고 갈보리로 가셨습니다.

아브라함은 그의 아들을 제물로 바치지 않았습니다. 하나님께서 그에게 숫양을 준비하셨기 때문입니다. 하나님은 믿음으로 아브라함에게 그리스도의 날을 보여주셨습니다. 하나님은 그에게 예수님이 어떻게 그의 백성을 위하여 십자가에 못박히시는지 보여주셨습니다. 이삭이 나무를 졌을 때 아브라함은 이삭에게서 그리스도의 이미지를 보았습니다. 이삭에게서 아브라함은 세상 죄를 지신 하나님의 어린양을 보았습니다.

이삭에게서 아브라함은 세상의 구속자를 보았습니다. 이삭에게서 하나님의 사랑하는 아들이 십자가를 지심을 보았습니다.

믿음으로 하나님은 그리스도의 날을 그에게 보여주셨습니다. 믿음으로 하나님은 그에게 갈보리를 보여주셨습니다. 하나님은 아브라함에게 2000년후에 그의 사랑하는 아들이 무엇을 행할것인지를 보여주셨습니다. 그리고 아브라함이 그 장소를 보았을 때를 느끼게 하였습니다. 그는 기쁘게 갈보리 그곳을 보았습니다. 그것은 하나님께서 그에게 그의 놀라운 구원의 계획을 나타내었기 때문입니다. 하나님은 그에게 어떻게그의 백성을 구속할것이지를 보여주셨습니다. 그래서 예수님이 요8:56에서 너의조상 아브라함은 나의 날을 볼 것을 즐거워하다가 보고 기뻐하였다. "라고 말씀하셨습니다.

아브라함은 그 날들을 기쁘게 보았습니다. 이삭이 나무를 지고 모리아땅으로 갔지만 예수님은 세상의 죄를 지고 갈보리로 가셔서 십자가에 못박혔습니다. 같은 장소이고 같은 풍경입니다. 그리고 아브라함은 기쁘게 그리스도의 날을 보았습니다.

하나님은 아브라함이 하지 않은 것을 하셨습니다. 하나님은 그의 사랑을 보여주셨고 그의 아들로 하여금 죄를 위한 번제물이 되게 하였다. 그래서 요한은 요한일서4:9-10에서 이렇게 말했습니다. "하나님의 사랑이 우리에게 이렇게 나타난바 되었으니 하나님이 자기의 독생자를 세상에 보내심은 그로 말미암아 우리를 살리려 하심이라 사랑은 여기 있으니 우리가 하나님을 사랑한 것이 아니요 하나님이 우리를 사랑하사 우리 죄를 속하기 위하여 화목 제물로 그 아들을 보내셨음이라"

창세기 22장에서 우리는 아브라함이 하나님을 사랑함을 보았습니다. 또한 우리는 아브라함이 하나님에게 대한 헌신을 보았습니다. 우리는 그의 순종과 뛰어난 그의 믿음을 보았습니다. 그러나 여기서 우리는 또한 하나님의 신실하심 즉 하나님은 그의 신실하심을 보여주고 아브라함을 축복하고 그로 하여금 큰 믿족을 이루게 하였습니다. 예수 안에서 우리는 하나님의 사랑을 봅니다. 하나님께서 얼마나 당신을 사랑하는지 그의 아들 예수를 보내어 당신을 위하여 희생제물이 되었습니다.

형제자매 여러분, 이번주에 우리는 성금요일과 부활절을 맞이하게 됩니다. 그러나 오늘 저는 여러분이 갈보리를 향하여 집중하기를 원합니다. 하나님 아버지를 묵상하십시오. 예수님이 세상의 죄를 지고 갈보리로 가실 때 그가 어떤 느낌이였는지 생각하십시오. 그의 사랑하는 아들 예수가 주먹으로 맞고 사람들에게 뺨을 맞았습니다. 그들은 그에게 침을 뱉고 막대기로 머리를 때렸습니다. 또한 예수님이 십자가를 지신것을 생각해보십시오. 예수님이 당신의 죄로 인하여 십자가에 못박히시는것을 생각해보십시오. 하나님 아버지가 어떤 느낌이었는지 생각해보십시오. 하나님께서는 왜 이 모든 일을 행하셨습니까? 이 모든것을 행하신것은 하나님께서 당신을 사랑하시기 때문입니다. 하나님은 당신을 돌보시기에 그의 아들 예수님을 당신을 위하여 보내셨습니다. 그분은 당신을 위하여 십자가에서 그의 피를 흘리심으로서 죄의 종이였던 당신에게 자유를 주셨습니다.

형제자매여러분, 당신은 지금 무엇을 하고 있습니까. 당신의 믿음을 예수님께 두십시오. 당신의 하나님에 대한 사랑을 보이십시오. 하나님은 항상 그의 사랑을 당신을 위하여 십자가에서 보이셨습니. 지금 당신의 하나님을 향한 사랑과 믿음을 보여주십시오. 아브라함은 하나님을 사랑하였기에 하나님을 향한 그의 믿음을 보였습니다. 그리하여 하나님은 그에게 풍성한 복을 주셨습니다. 만일 당신이 예수님을 사랑하면 당신의 그를 향한 믿음을 보이면 하나님 곧우리 주 예수님의 하아버지께서 당신을 축복하실 것이고 당신의 필요한 모든 것을 예비하실 것입니다. 또한 그가 당신을 인도할 것이며 당신을 도와 당신의 삶에 풍성을 복을 내려주실 것입니다. 그것은 그가 당신을 사랑하시기 때문입니다. 하나님께서 여러분에게 복 주시기를 기도합니다. 아멘
